Do the following exercises. 1. Give 3 examples of well-defined sets.

Answer:

Here are examples of a well-defined set

Step-by-step explanation:

A well-defined set is a set with a precisely given collection of objects called elements. Well-defined simply pertains to any object that is either an element of that particular set or it is not. Note that the order of the elements doesn't matter.

The notation x  S is read as "x is an element of S"

Here are three examples of a well-defined set:

1. The set of all even numbers between 1 to 13. This is a well-defined set because its individual members are exactly {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12} and nothing more or less.

2. The set of Grade 8 students in Xavier School with ages 13 and 14. This is a well-defined set because it only includes Grade 8 students in Xavier School with the mentioned ages. Any grade 8 student in Xavier who are not aged 13 and 14 are not included.

3. The set of right-handed female teachers in Miriam College. The same reasoning applies to this set as only the teachers fitting the description can be considered a part of the set.
