The Molecular Structure Of Water Contains Two Atoms Of Hydrogen And One Atom Of Oxygen. When Water Reaches Its Boiling Point And Turns Into Water Vapo
The molecular structure of water contains two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. When water reaches its boiling point and turns into water vapor, what happens to its molecular structure?
Good Day....
The molecular structure is still the same only it acquired kinetic energy which turns into gas. Liquid H2O turns into gas H2O
H2O is bonded to another H2O by hydrogen bond which is an example of intermolecular force acting between molecules. Since Intermolecular forces are weak they can easily broken for example heating. Liquid H2O will turns into gas H2O since they acquired kinetic energy from heat making the molecules of H2O spread apart like gas particles. The covalent bond between hydrogen and oxygen didnt broken but only the hydrogen bond between H2O and other H2O molecules are broken.
Hope it helps....
