How the movement of plates

 

Good Day...

Plate movement is caused by the convection current of the mantle. The Earths lithosphere is divided into several pieces known as plate (lithospheric plates). Lithospheric plates include the crust and upper mantle which moves because of the convection current of the mantle.

  • Plates will moves towards one another (convergent boundary)
  • Plates will move past one another (transform fault boundary)
  • Plates will also move away from one another (divergent boundary)

Plate movement results in the formation of different geological features such as volcanoes, mountain ranges, mid-ocean ridge and earthquake.
